Therapy Techniques

My approach is largely informed by cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), which emphasizes the connections between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. CBT helps us increase self-awareness, critically examine our perceptions, identify unhelpful behaviours, and cope more adaptively with challenges. I also use mindfulness techniques, which involve intentionally bringing one's attention to the present moment without judgment. In addition to these methods, I have training and experience in treating trauma-related symptoms and facilitating post-traumatic growth, using evidence-based treatments such as cognitive processing therapy (CPT) and accelerated resolution therapy (ART). I also draw from other modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and the Gottman Method. The therapeutic approach we take will depend on your specific needs and will be discussed at the outset of therapy.
